Being active in social media

If you are new to social media, it can be daunting knowing where to start.

Being active in social media can benefit both you as a business and in helping your business grow. Social Media most people have heard of include but are not limited to Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+, Pinterest, Youtube, Instagram, and Blogging.

Social media enables an interactive way to engage on a personal level a vast audience without having to pay for advertising. It also gives people a way to interact with you as a person rather than a name.

Facebook is a social tool personally but also as a business. The disadvantage to Facebook is that to get the most views you have to pay for it. If you have an interactive page with lots of likes, comments then the more audience it reaches. Newsfeed both on personal and business pages benefit advertising more than the user.

Twitter or Tweets can help you network, generate leads, and promote products in short messages. It has no restrictions on who you can reach but you are limited by how much you can say. Tweets are limited to 140 characters which appear on followers’ home pages. Messages can link to the product’s website, Facebook profile, photos, videos, etc

LinkedIn you can register your business and generate leads by people who are interested in finding you. It is not as interactive as Facebook or Twitter.

Google+ is similar to facebook but not limited with views and being part of Google has a wide audience. Hashtag to search for and interest and you can post ads and network or generate leads. It has communities for interaction and newsfeeds for those that follow you.

Pinterest enables anyone to "save" anything posted anywhere on the net and to follow a user. It collects and saves images and the webpage it is collected from. It is not interactive like facebook but does get many views.

Instagram is images and videos where you can link to other social media.

YouTube is videos where you can have a business page and is not restrictive in views and the more people like it the more views it gets. You can build an audience on YouTube for massive views, exposure and targeted traffic.

Blogging allows reaching a mass audience that is already interested and searching for a topic or brand or what is already an interest to them. It allows people to follow and can be interactive with all other social media. The more varied or interactive the Blog the more people will find it. (

Enjoy the social media that you find of interest to you! Connect and interact and have fun!!
